I am very excited to kick off my substack blog in saying I have a book coming out soon.
November 7, 2018 my daughter Alaina was the victim of a mass shooting at Borderline Bar and Grill in Thousand Oaks California. Most people couldn’t fathom the fog, anxiety, sadness, frustration and anger to name a few emotions. At the same time, so many others could not also imagine the kindness, hope, love, new friendships and all out resilience that would be born from Alaina’s murder. She was one of 12 victims that night and one of 13 who’s life ended.
Always November, Lessons in Loss, Love and Resilience is my way of giving back to so many that helped us get through my life’ darkest moment. I plan to have this post weekly to give some nuggets of advice in hope to help someone know they aren’t alone. If you allow yourself to be open, you would be surprised at how much love and support is around you. I will be happy to share things I learned on how to communicate with empathy over sympathy.
If communication surrounding loss or grief in your life is something that resonates with you feel free to check out my webpage or send me an email with title Always November to arik@housleyspeaks.com you can see more information about my speaking at housleyspeaks.com
